For the fourth year in a row, the three WARPs in the North of England are coming together to deliver our annual Northern WARP Conference. This conference is an exciting collaboration that brings together experts, speakers, suppliers and local public practitioners together on the topic of cyber security, cyber resilience, and data protection. For the very first time this year, this conference will be held in person, in Manchester on Friday 13th September 2024.

As well as the really strong selection of Live Lounges, the Northern WARP are also bringing a series of seminar sessions for the middle part of the day. These seminars cover many of the key elements of the ever evolving threat landscape. We have a strong, diverse range of providers who will be showcasing their innovative products. We also have a couple of sessions from exciting speakers discussing how to recover from cyber-attacks and AI.

Recovering from a Cyber Attack in 10 Weeks

Following on from the Live Lounge which explores the impact of a cyber-attack on organisations, we will have a more in depth seminar session on the process of recovery from the team over at St Helens. This session will focus more on the technical elements of recovering systems from malicious actors.

AI: where are we, where are we going, what should we be doing…..

The use of AI is developing rapidly and it is now a mainstream technology being applied for a huge range of uses. It is also having a massive impact on the cyber security sector. Mark Brett,  programme Director for the NLAWARP and the UK Cyber Technical Advisory Group, will be giving a quick overview of the threats and opportunities, while suggesting some steps to take to support your organisation in their responsible use of AI safely.

Enabling the SOC of the Future

As the threat landscape continues to develop, traditional security models must be adapted to keep up. Fortinet will be presenting on how to give your Security Operations Centre a proactive posture rather than reactive one.

Strengthening Public Sector Resilience: The Essential Role of Log Management in Public Sector Frameworks and Incident Response

Another key element to a robust cyber security framework is effective log management. Logpoint will be delivering a session on how to ensure your log management supports your organisations resilience to a cyber-attack and swift and effective incident response.

Supply Chain Assurance: Overcoming the Resource and Upskilling Need in Third-party Risk

Supply chain security has been an area of increasing importance as chains become increasingly more complex and wide ranging. Risk Ledger will be exploring how you can better monitor and understand risk across your supply chain and remain ahead of potential dangers and vulnerabilities.

Risk & Compliance of the Third Party Mobile app Estate

The use of apps in the Public Sector is constantly growing, however the security of those apps is often overlooked. This can leave serious vulnerabilities in systems. Mobstr will be showcasing their service which is designed to provide robust governance, risk management and compliance for mobile apps. It offers features like vulnerability assessments, malware scanning, and compliance checks.
