There is substantial evidence to suggest that we are influenced and inspired by others who we see as being ‘similar’ to ourselves. Several studies also suggest that having women, and those from diverse backgrounds, on boards and involved in decision making processes can result in organisations making better decisions and result in better outcomes.
The iNetwork 19th Annual Conference not only showcases the huge breadth of interests present in iNetwork programme areas but it also takes an opportunity to celebrate women’s voices in the public sector.
iNetwork’s leadership is comprised of Director Shelley Heckman who is supported by iNetwork Chair Alison McKenzie-Folan OBE the Chief Executive from Wigan Council, and Deputy Chair Sarah Bullock, Deputy Chief Executive at Chorley Council and South Ribble Borough. Alison McKenzie-Folan is going to be chairing the conference as well as chairing our first keynote panel session ‘Leading the Public Sector through Change’, with Sarah Bullock chairing the second keynote panel session ‘What would it take for real digital innovation in the public sector?’.
With 14 women speaking at the conference alongside 14 male speakers we create an environment where everyone’s voice is equal, with the hope that equality in speaking opportunities at conferences such as our own will inspire the next generation of women looking to pursue a career in the public sector.
Not only are 5 of our seminar sessions led by women:
– Tech Innovation Showcase Discovery – Florrie Mayo, PUBLIC and Sarah Slate, LGA
– Single View of the Family – Gill Bawler, Somerset Council & Bristol Council
– AI4ASC: Evidencing the Impact of AI on ASC Information & Advice and the Front Door – Jane Hancer, CC2i
– Delivering Interoperability Via Procurement – Andrea Fitzgerald, CCS
– Navigating Change: Insights and lessons from public sector transformation – Tirene Doepel, NAFN
But women also play a key role in our panel discussions such as ‘Considering Security and Data Protection for AI’.
Join us in celebrating everyone’s voice at our upcoming conference and register here for a ticket.
